STRATEGIC PROJECT SOLUTIONS, INC. ANNOUNCES VIRTUAL DESIGN & CONSTRUCTION EDUCATION PROGRAM WITH STANFORD'S CIFE
San Francisco, California, 07 April 2008
Stanford University's Center for Integrated Facility Engineering (CIFE) and Strategic Project Solutions (SPS) have partnered to deliver an ongoing educational program focused on the effective and sustainable implementation of enabling virtual design and construction technologies for the architectural, engineering and construction sector with the first session planned for the week of 23 June 2008 at Stanford.
Roberto Arbulu, Director SPS Technical Services states "As the business environment becomes increasingly dynamic and complex and the movement to reduce carbon footprints expands, owners and operators of capital facilities are adopting new approaches for design and construction including Integrated Project Delivery and Lean Construction to name a few. These approaches are based on processes that are best enabled through virtual design and construction technologies. CIFE and SPS team members have been collaborating in technical development and best practice implementation of VDC for over fifteen years. With the increase in demand for VDC, it is now time to provide the market with a robust educational program."
Martin Fischer, Director of CIFE, states that "A recent large survey by CIFE, CURT, and GSA shows that all companies already use VDC widely and plan to do more with VDC in the near future. Therefore, the challenge for organizations is to use VDC well across all their projects, which requires the education of many executives, project managers, and engineers in how to use VDC methods effectively. This program offers this education. We are thrilled to collaborate with SPS on delivering this program, since SPS has a successful track record in enabling organizations to adopt innovative work methods in the construction industry."
