| "When it became apparent that Project Daytona in Midland Michigan would not be able to be constructed within the time frame needed by the business the project team looked in the application of Lean Principles. The amount of time needed to be cut out of the conventional project execution strategy was seven months with only seven months left before the needed Return To Operations date. The planned execution strategy had been design, bid, build. As there was no way design work could be completed to support this drastic schedule compression something different had to be done. The project team put together a Lean Execution Strategy that would shorten the schedule, reduce waste, be constructed safely and satisfy management that they would not just be "throwing money" at the problem by using excessive overtime."
